The Story
Behind
Daniela has a head for business and a hands for baking. By day she uses her left brain to lead a manufacturing group in a food company and by night she uses her right brain to cook up all of the delicious new baked treats at Social House. Daniela has had a passion for baking for as long as she can remember. She even turned her passion into a side catering business. She loves the challenge of turning someones rough idea for a wedding cake into a beautiful reality. When she and Rory started thinking about buying a small business, the idea of a cafe where she could use both her business knowledge and passion for baking was a no brainer.
Rory paid his way through college managing a group of espresso bars. Once he finished college he went to work for a big company running special events. His passion for entertaining started while watching his mother throw beautiful dinner parties. Rory’s keen eye for detail landed him numerous awards for his events and write ups in Wedding Bells magazine along with a few other hospitality industry publications. Rory made a move to a corporate job but always felt something was missing. When helping friends with events and throwing parties at home was no longer enough, he started to consider making a move. One day he and Daniela had the idea to buy a little space that they could make their own and combine their passions. That is how Social House began.
Daniela and Rory met while working and became fast friends. The two eventually chased cities together. What started as a temporary work assignment in a different city has turned into the duo living together for 8 years and adopting two dogs. You will often see the friends out and about in the city, dogs in tow of course.
